Senate President Godswill Akpabio has expressed strong confidence in President Bola Tinubu's administration, stating that Nigeria is in "safe hands" under his leadership. In a birthday message marking Tinubu's 73rd birthday on Friday, Akpabio praised the President's democratic credentials and economic reform agenda.
Akpabio highlighted Tinubu's crucial role in forming the All Progressives Congress (APC), which ended the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) 16-year rule in 2015. "Your pivotal role in the APC's formation in 2013 paved the way for our historic victory in 2015, when for the first time in Nigeria's history, an incumbent president lost re-election," Akpabio stated.
The Senate President commended Tinubu's leadership since assuming office in 2023, describing him as "one of Nigeria's greatest and most courageous leaders." He noted the President's bold economic reforms and commitment to democratic values, saying they were already yielding positive results. "With you at the helm, Nigeria is secure, and citizens made the right choice in 2023," Akpabio affirmed.
Reflecting on their working relationship, Akpabio praised Tinubu's collaborative approach with the National Assembly. "As Senate President, I've witnessed firsthand your dedication to Nigeria's progress, which inspires all of us," he said.
Akpabio also lauded Tinubu's decades-long political career, particularly his fight for democracy against military rule. "Your 73 years have been marked by unwavering commitment to democratic ideals and the courage to challenge authoritarian regimes," he remarked.
