Super Eagles Determined to Secure 2026 World Cup Spot – Osimhen

The Nigerian Super Eagles are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. With the pain of missing out on the 2022 tournament still fresh, the team is determined to ensure history does not repeat itself.

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen recently expressed the team’s unwavering commitment, emphasizing how crucial it is for them to make it to the World Cup. “It’s a dream of every footballer to play at the World Cup… we simply can’t let it happen again to us, the country, and our generation,” Osimhen stated.

Currently, Nigeria sits fifth in Group C of the African qualifiers, with just three points from four matches. The team has drawn three games and lost one, putting them in a tough position as they prepare for their next fixtures. To keep their qualification hopes alive, they must secure victories in their upcoming matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

Head coach Eric Chelle has named a 23-man squad for these crucial encounters, bringing back key players such as Sadiq Umar and Joseph Ayodele-Aribo. The squad also includes home-based right-back Sodiq Ismail from Remo Stars, signaling a mix of experience and emerging talent.

The Super Eagles will face Rwanda on March 22 and Zimbabwe on March 28. These matches are must-win encounters, as dropping more points could make World Cup qualification an uphill battle. Nigerian fans are hopeful that the team can turn things around and book their place at the prestigious tournament in 2026.

Can the Super Eagles rise to the occasion and secure their ticket to the World Cup? Only time will tell, but the determination is certainly there!
