Veteran Philippine actress and singer Nora Aunor has died at the age of 71. The news was confirmed on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, by her daughter, Lotlot de Leon, in an emotional Instagram post. The cause of death was not disclosed.

"It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, celebrated television and movie actress, and a true National Artist of the Philippines, Nora Aunor," Lotlot de Leon wrote. She added that funeral service details would be announced later and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and prayers during this time of mourning.

Nora Aunor, who rose to fame in the 1960s initially as a singer before transitioning into acting, became a cultural icon and one of the most beloved figures in Philippine entertainment. Known affectionately as "Superstar," she received the Philippine's highest honor for actors, "National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts," in 2022.

Aunor's career spanned several decades, during which she starred in numerous critically acclaimed films, earning accolades for her versatile acting skills and contributions to Philippine cinema.
