Awka, Anambra State - Governor Chukwuma Soludo has secured the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) nomination to contest for a second term in the Anambra State governorship election slated for November 8, 2025. The primary election took place at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, where Soludo ran unopposed.
The returning officer, Uche Nwegbo, announced the results, stating that out of 3,260 delegates, 3,175 were accredited, with 3,172 votes cast. Soludo received 3,168 yes-votes, with only four votes declared invalid. Nwegbo declared Soludo the party's candidate, citing INEC guidelines.
In his acceptance speech, Soludo expressed gratitude and pledged to continue his dedicated service to the people of Anambra State. He lauded APGA's strength and progressive values, reaffirming the party's deep roots in the state. He highlighted the achievements of his administration, emphasizing fiscal responsibility and sustainable development.
Soludo also announced that his current deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, would be his running mate, referencing the popular saying, "If it is not broken, why mend it?" He expressed confidence in a resounding victory in the upcoming election, aiming to win all local government areas and wards in the state.
