Urualla Community in Imo State Raises Alarm Over Severe Erosion Threat

The Urualla autonomous community in the Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State has urgently appealed to the state government for intervention due to the escalating erosion crisis that poses an existential threat to the area.

Community leaders, led by President General Chief A.C. Nwosu, recently visited the Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Ejikeme Emenike, to express their deep concern. They described the erosion as a long-standing problem that worsens daily, especially during the rainy season, and warned of an impending environmental disaster.

Nwosu recounted a tragic incident from the previous year where one family lost three children due to the devastating impact of the erosion. He emphasized the community's plea for assistance, stating, "As the President General of the community, my people have cried so much...we decided to seek [the Governor's] intervention."

Commissioner Emenike assured the community that the state government is aware of the issue and is committed to addressing it. He stated that measures have already been deployed to mitigate the danger and promised that the Governor would give the situation adequate attention.
