Nwoye Dumps APC, Cites Lack of Justice and Rule of Law

Ben Nwoye, the former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, has resigned from the party, asserting that it has become a platform devoid of justice and the rule of law.

During a press conference in Enugu, Nwoye, a founding member of the APC, explained that the fundamental values upon which the party was established have been abandoned. He noted the absence of unity and peace within the party, stating that the party’s symbol, the "broom," is severely "battered and scattered."

Nwoye stated, "With a deep sense of responsibility, I write to inform you that I hereby resign as a member of the All Progressives Congress. My resignation is a result of the disintegration of the leadership of the party in Enugu State."

He further elaborated that efforts by party elders to gather and reassemble the "broom," which was painstakingly tied together in 2013, have failed and are no longer practical in Enugu State. He accused the party's Southeast leadership of engaging in vindictive politics, prioritizing oppression of perceived political enemies over adding states to the party's control in the region.

Nwoye also criticized the APC's national leadership for turning a blind eye to issues within the party and disrespecting calls for reconciliation from party elders. He said that loyal party members who call for unity are treated poorly while the national leadership is complacent.
