MultiChoice Group has announced the appointment of Dr. Busola Tejumola as its new Executive Head of General Entertainment Channels, marking a significant leadership shift at Africa’s leading pay-TV giant. The move is seen as a strategic effort to reinforce MultiChoice’s dominance in African content across its DStv and GOtv platforms.
Dr. Tejumola, whose appointment was confirmed via her LinkedIn profile, brings over a decade of experience at MultiChoice to her new role. She joined the company in 2012 as Consumer Insights Manager, quickly rising through the ranks to lead the Strategy and Insights team and later serving as General Manager of Production at Africa Magic. In her previous role as Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels, she played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s content strategy and championing local storytelling.
Throughout her career, Dr. Tejumola has overseen the production of major African titles such as Big Brother Naija, Tinsel, Ajoche, and the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA). Her leadership has been credited with enriching the viewing experience for over 20 million MultiChoice subscribers and strengthening the company’s focus on audience-driven, locally relevant programming.
Dr. Tejumola holds a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from Brunel University London, a master’s degree from the University of Surrey, and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Ibadan. She has also completed senior leadership training at Duke Corporate Education.
Her appointment comes at a time when MultiChoice faces increased competition from both global and local streaming services. The company’s decision to elevate a content veteran to this key executive role reflects a broader industry trend of aligning programming decisions with market demands and local narratives.
With Dr. Tejumola now overseeing general entertainment channels including the flagship Africa Magic bouquet MultiChoice is doubling down on its commitment to telling African stories by African creators and strengthening its leadership in the continent’s entertainment landscape.
