Nigerian music star Kizz Daniel has opened up about the inspiration behind his latest EP, ‘Lemon Chase,’ describing it as his most personal and authentic work yet. The seven-track project, released ahead of his forthcoming album ‘Uncle K,’ is, according to the Flyboi boss, “not business as usual.”
Kizz Daniel explained that ‘Lemon Chase’ is a reflection of real-life experiences, capturing themes of love, loss, peace, and celebration emotions and stories that every listener can relate to. “When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade out of it,” he said, emphasizing that the project is meant to feel like real life: “sweet, sour, confusing, beautiful.”
He added, “This is music for your heart, for when you’re healing, or hoping, or remembering. I just wanted it to be honest, authentic and true to self.”
The EP features an impressive lineup of collaborators, including five-time Grammy winner Angelique Kidjo, Johnny Drille, Bella Shmurda, Odumodu Blvck, Zlatan, and Fola. The lead single, ‘Police,’ which features Johnny Drille and Angelique Kidjo, has already been tipped by industry watchers as a strong contender for the Best African Music Performance category at the next Grammy Awards.
With ‘Lemon Chase,’ Kizz Daniel is inviting fans to experience music that is deeply rooted in truth and emotion, marking a new chapter in his artistic journey.
