Nollywood actor and filmmaker Yul Edochie has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden deaths of two promising cinematographers, Johnson and Gozman, who lost their lives in a fatal car accident on Port Harcourt Road. The duo were reportedly returning from a colleague’s wedding when the tragic crash occurred, cutting short the lives of two talented individuals in Nigeria’s film industry.
In a heartfelt tribute shared on Instagram, Yul Edochie posted a candlelight image to honor the late cinematographers. He lamented the recent spate of untimely deaths within Nollywood, describing the losses as “deeply heartbreaking.” He prayed for strength and comfort for the families and friends left behind, writing, “Too many untimely deaths in Nollywood. Really sad. R.I.P. to our fallen brothers. May God grant your families the strength to bear this painful loss.”
The film community remains shaken as this tragedy follows closely on the heels of other significant losses, including the passing of actress Nkechi Nweje and Columbus Irisoanga, a respected actor and academic. The latter’s death was poignantly announced by fellow actress Hilda Dokubo, who described it as a deeply painful blow to the industry.
As Nollywood mourns these losses, Yul Edochie’s tribute underscores the fragility of life and the need for unity and support within the creative community during these difficult times.
