Authorities in Miami-Dade County have issued an arrest warrant for former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown, charging him with attempted murder using a firearm. The warrant stems from a May 16 incident outside a celebrity boxing event in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood, where Brown allegedly pulled a gun and fired two shots, injuring a man.
Surveillance footage and witness accounts show Brown involved in a physical altercation, during which he reportedly punched a man, seized a handgun from an off-duty security guard, and fired two rounds—one grazing the victim’s neck. Although Brown was briefly detained that night and seen in handcuffs, he was released after providing his statement. Police recovered two spent shell casings and an empty holster at the scene but did not find a weapon on Brown at the time.
The warrant, signed by a Miami-Dade judge, classifies the charge as a first-degree felony of attempted second-degree murder with a firearm. Upon arrest, Brown is expected to post a $10,000 bond and be placed under house arrest pending trial.
Brown has denied wrongdoing, claiming on social media that he was attacked by multiple individuals attempting to steal his jewelry and harm him. This incident adds to the former NFL star’s ongoing legal challenges.
