Manchester United have resumed negotiations with Napoli over the potential signing of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen ahead of the 2025–26 season. The Red Devils view Osimhen as the ideal forward to lead their attack after a disappointing 2024–25 campaign in which they scored only 44 Premier League goals, with current strikers Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee failing to make a significant impact.
Osimhen, who spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, scored an impressive 37 goals and provided eight assists in 41 appearances, helping the Turkish side clinch the league title. Despite strong interest from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, Osimhen reportedly failed to agree on terms and is now seeking a new club, making a return to Napoli unlikely.
Negotiations reportedly center around Osimhen’s demand for a €12 million annual salary and Napoli’s asking price of €75 million, including bonuses. Galatasaray also remains interested in retaining the striker, but the Premier League is considered a more attractive destination for Osimhen, who is eager to test himself in England.
Manchester United’s manager Ruben Amorim is keen to strengthen the squad’s attacking options, and securing Osimhen would represent a major statement of intent. Talks have reportedly picked up again recently, raising hopes among fans that the club can finalize a deal for one of Europe’s most prolific forwards in the coming weeks.
