Former Environment Minister Mohammed Abdullahi Resigns from APC, Cites Personal Reasons

Barrister Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi, Nigeria’s former Minister of Environment, has officially resigned his membership from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing personal reasons for his decision.

Abdullahi made his resignation public in a letter dated June 1, 2025, addressed to the APC chairman of his Uke ward in Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State. The letter, which was also copied to other party officials, expressed gratitude to the party leadership for their support throughout his tenure. Abdullahi acknowledged their “modest contributions in building the party” in Nasarawa State and wished the APC continued success.

While Abdullahi did not elaborate on his next political move, he has previously hinted at responding to “contemporary realities” and had accepted calls to contest the 2027 Nasarawa State governorship election. His resignation has sparked speculation about his future plans and potential impact on the political landscape in Nasarawa State.

The APC is yet to issue an official response to Abdullahi’s departure, which comes amid ongoing shifts and realignments in Nigeria’s political scene.
