The people of Nigeria’s South East region have been called upon to rally behind President Bola Tinubu and deliver an overwhelming vote for him in the 2027 general election, with promises of increased federal projects and greater economic advancement for the zone.
This appeal was made on Sunday in Bende, Abia State, during the inauguration of the “Renewed Hope Partners” by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu. The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, represented by the party’s South East zonal chairman, Emma Enukwu, urged the South East to give President Tinubu “99 per cent of their votes.”
Ganduje emphasized that aligning with Tinubu’s administration would bring more developmental projects to the region, noting, “You can see that all the governors of South South are collapsing into APC. Come, let us join hands to make sure that 99 per cent of the votes cast in the South East are for Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu.”
Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, while inaugurating the Renewed Hope Partners, echoed Ganduje’s sentiments. He highlighted the federal appointments and projects already extended to the South East under Tinubu’s leadership, including the appointment of an Igbo man as Chief of Naval Staff and increased involvement in the oil and gas sector. Kalu argued that these moves signify the President’s commitment to reintegrating the Igbos into national affairs, despite the region’s low support for Tinubu in the 2023 elections.
Kalu assured that even more federal projects would be executed in the South East if the region supports Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, promising that the zone stands to benefit from further economic and infrastructural development.
The call comes as political realignments intensify ahead of the next general elections, with APC leaders seeking to consolidate support across all regions of Nigeria.
