“My Heart Is Heavy”: MI Abaga Condemns Benue Killings, Calls for an End to Violence

Nigerian rapper MI Abaga has expressed profound sorrow over the recent wave of deadly attacks in Benue State, describing the situation as deeply heartbreaking. In an emotional message shared on X, the veteran artist said, “My heart is heavy. It grieves me deeply to see so much of the Middle Belt bleed.” He emphasized that the recent killings in Benue are not mere statistics but represent real people families and communities being torn apart.

MI Abaga declared his solidarity with the victims and survivors, stating, “Your pain is my pain. We can’t normalise this cycle of violence that has plagued our land for too long.” He paid tribute to those who have lost their lives and pledged that they will not be forgotten, while standing firmly with those still enduring the crisis.

The rapper’s heartfelt message comes amid reports of over 100 people killed in Guma Local Government Area during a brutal two-day rampage by suspected herders. Local leaders warn the death toll may be higher, with entire families wiped out and some victims reportedly burned alive. The violence has sparked widespread outrage, prompting calls from prominent figures like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who described the situation as a “national emergency” and urged immediate government action and improved security deployment.

The ongoing attacks have displaced hundreds of thousands of residents, with communities living in fear and demanding urgent intervention to restore peace. MI Abaga’s statement adds to the chorus of voices condemning the bloodshed and calling for an end to the relentless violence in Benue State.
