Nigerian striker Joy Omewa has been crowned the Best Player of the Season in the Danish Women’s League after an outstanding campaign with Fortuna Hjørring. The 23-year-old forward finished as the league’s top scorer, netting 22 goals and providing four assists in 23 appearances, helping her team secure both the Danish Women’s League title and the Danish Cup.
Omewa’s exceptional performances earned her the prestigious Player of the Season award, which came with a brand-new Mercedes-Benz as part of the honor. She joined Fortuna Hjørring in 2022 from Nigeria Women Football League side Confluence Queens and has since established herself as a key player in Danish women’s football.
Having previously represented Nigeria at the U-17 and U-20 levels, Omewa’s breakthrough season in Denmark has further raised her profile as one of Nigeria’s brightest football talents, with growing interest from top European clubs.
