PDP Ward Chairman and Son Killed in Kwara Community by Gunmen

Unknown gunmen have killed Alhaji Abdullahi Shehu Kpotun, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman of Lade Ward One, and his son in the Lile community of Patigi Local Government Area, Kwara State. The attack occurred late Tuesday night when the assailants invaded their residence, resulting in their deaths.

The incident has drawn strong condemnation from former Senate President Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, who described the killings as barbaric, painful, and unacceptable. Saraki expressed heartbreak over the loss and extended his condolences to the victims’ family and the Patigi community. He prayed for the peaceful repose of their souls and strength for the grieving family.

Saraki also called on the Kwara State Government and relevant security agencies to take urgent and proactive measures to address the escalating insecurity in the state, emphasizing that the protection of lives and property must be a top priority. “This rising tide of insecurity in our dear state must not be allowed to continue. Government and security agencies must act swiftly and decisively to prevent further tragedies,” he urged.

The attack is part of a growing pattern of insecurity in Kwara State, with authorities urged to intensify efforts to curb violence and ensure the safety of residents.
