Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Asake has released a captivating new music video for his single “Badman Gangsta,” featuring French rapper Tiakola. The track samples Amerie’s iconic 2005 hit “1 Thing,” blending Nigerian and French musical influences, highlighting Asake’s expanding global appeal. The video, shot mostly in stylish black-and-white, adopts a documentary style, showcasing Asake’s life vacationing in tropical locales, recording music, and flaunting luxury cars like a classic DeLorean and a Cybertruck.
Despite a quieter 2025 so far, Asake’s new release signals his return to a prolific phase after last year’s Lungu Boy World Tour. Additionally, the collaboration with Tiakola broadens his reach into French-speaking markets, reflected in the predominantly French-language comments under the video. Asake also launched his own label, Giran Republic, in partnership with Gamma, marking a step toward greater artistic independence.
“Badman Gangsta” combines bold visuals with a celebration of life, love, and individuality, positioning Asake as a transcontinental Afrobeats force with growing influence in both Africa and Europe.
