Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Hon. Clarita Ogar, the Labour Party’s House of Representatives candidate for Yala/Ogoja Federal Constituency in the 2023 general elections.
In a heartfelt statement shared on his official social media platforms on July 25, 2025, Obi conveyed his grief and condolences to Ogar’s family and the entire Obidient movement. He revealed that he had personally reached out to Ogar’s family a few days before to receive confirmation of the tragic news.
Obi described the late Clarita Ogar as “not just a patriot but also a fearless woman who stood for justice and a better Nigeria.” He honored her dedication to public service and her commitment to positive change in Nigeria’s political landscape.
He added a prayerful wish: “May her soul rest in perfect peace, and may God give her family and all of us the fortitude to bear her sad, irreplaceable loss. God Almighty continue to bless her family and all the Obidient family always.”
