In a brutal wave of violence on Monday, armed bandits carried out coordinated attacks on several communities in Bakura Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing numerous residents and abducting many more.
The attacks targeted villages including Dogon Madaci, Tungar Lawal, and Rafin Samu, where the assailants on motorcycles launched indiscriminate gunfire, forcing terrified villagers to flee into the bushes for safety.
The bandits also looted homes and shops, stealing valuables and livestock, intensifying the suffering of the affected communities. Eyewitnesses reported multiple casualties and serious injuries, while dozens of people were kidnapped during the chaos.
The attacks have heightened fear across the region and underscored the grave security challenges that Zamfara faces. Local residents have appealed to the government and security agencies to strengthen protective measures to prevent such deadly incidents in the future. Authorities continue to investigate and respond to the situation as displaced families seek refuge and assistance.
