Bird Strike Forces Air Peace Lagos-Enugu Flight to Return Mid-Air for Safety Checks

An Air Peace flight operating the Lagos-Enugu route was forced to return mid-air shortly after takeoff due to a bird strike incident on July 24, 2025. The pilot decided to make an air return as a precaution to conduct safety checks, ensuring the safety of all passengers and crew on board.

The airline apologized for the inconvenience caused and deployed another aircraft to minimize disruptions to passengers' travel plans.

This incident is part of a wider pattern, with Air Peace reporting 34 bird strikes this year alone and a total of 115 over the past five years. Bird strikes have caused multiple flight delays and cancellations, with the airline urging public understanding as they work alongside airport authorities to manage the risks.

Air Peace emphasized that passenger and crew safety remains their top priority amid these challenges.
