DAILY MENTOR, July 28, 2025 - Immediate past governor of Adamawa State, Umaru Jibrilla (Bindow), formerly of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and later the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Bindow completed his registration and received his ADC membership card at his ward in Mubi North Local Government Area on Monday.
Bindow governed Adamawa State from 2015 to 2019 and previously served as senator for Adamawa North Zone between 2011 and 2015. His defection makes him the third prominent politician from Adamawa to join the ADC coalition, following the earlier moves by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and 2023 APC governorship candidate Senator Aishatu Binani.
The move is viewed as part of a broader realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the ADC gaining momentum as a formidable opposition platform in Adamawa and nationally.
Political analysts suggest Bindow's joining strengthens the opposition's efforts to challenge the dominance of the ruling parties and reshapes the political dynamics within the state.
