First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Donates N1 Billion to Victims of Plateau Attacks, Says Funds Are from Her Pocket

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday, July 3, 2025, donated N1 billion to support victims of recent violent attacks in Plateau State. She clarified that the donation was raised through her personal initiative, the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), and not sourced from government coffers.

Speaking at the Plateau State Government House in Jos, the First Lady described her contribution as an act of love and humanitarian concern rather than a political gesture. She expressed deep sorrow over the violence and appealed to all stakeholders to work towards lasting peace in the state.

Oluremi Tinubu said, “I do not have vast sums of money, but what I have is meant to bring life, not to pour money into a basket. If I kept money for personal gain, it would only satisfy greed. My goal is to use the resources I have for good, for the development of this country, not to waste them.”

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang thanked the First Lady for her generous support and pledged to ensure the funds are used transparently and effectively to meet the needs of the victims.

The donation follows a series of attacks in Plateau State that have resulted in significant loss of lives and property, prompting calls for urgent intervention and peacebuilding efforts in the region.
