Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former governor of Osun State and retired Nigerian Army general, has expressed deep disappointment with the current Nigerian administration led by Bola Tinubu. Speaking on the radio programme Frontline on Eagle 102.5 FM, Oyinlola said that contrary to Tinubu's campaign promise of a "Renewed Hope," Nigerians are instead facing "renewed agony."
He criticized the government’s performance, highlighting issues such as a deteriorating economy, worsening insecurity, widespread poverty, and poor access to basic healthcare. Oyinlola painted a grim picture of the country's current state, including religious tensions, banditry, terrorism, and insurgency. He argued that the quality of life for ordinary Nigerians has worsened since the Tinubu administration took office.
Although the Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and the state's Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership recently endorsed Tinubu’s re-election bid for 2027, Oyinlola clarified that this endorsement was a strategic political move rather than a sign of ideological alignment or trust in the administration.
This statement underscores Oyinlola’s critical stance on the federal government's governance, suggesting that Nigerians are enduring significant hardship rather than the promised progress.
