The Executive Chairman of Igboeze South Local Government Area, Barr. Ugochukwu Ukwueze, has reinforced his commitment to youth empowerment by sponsoring more than 100 young people in an intensive vocational and skills acquisition program at the Mario Institute of Hospitality Management and Entrepreneurship Education. This initiative, aligned with Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s vision for sustainable development, was emphasized during Barr. Ukwueze’s visit to the institute, coinciding with World Youth Skills Day celebrations and the 24th priestly ordination anniversary of the institute’s director, Rev. Fr. Cornelius Obe.
After touring various training units, Barr. Ukwueze expressed satisfaction with the trainees’ rapid progress, praising their enthusiasm, discipline, and the quality of products they had developed within just one month. The program covers diverse skills including shoemaking, fashion and design, furniture works, catering, cosmetology, and mobile phone repairs. Barr. Ukwueze also commended the institute’s management and instructors for creating a professional and structured learning environment.
He pledged that the empowerment initiative will not be a one-time effort but will be sustained and expanded to benefit more youths in the future. Stating, “We are not just training hands, we are shaping futures,” Barr. Ukwueze underscored the importance of human capital development for Igboeze South LGA’s growth. The program reflects ongoing efforts to build a skilled, self-reliant, and prosperous youth population in the area.
