Bangladesh Plane Crash Death Toll Hits 31 as Students Rally for Justice in Dhaka

A Bangladesh Air Force training jet crashed into a school in Dhaka’s Uttara district, killing 31 people, most of them children. The Chinese-made F-7 BGI fighter jet suffered a technical failure shortly after takeoff on Monday and tragically hit Milestone School and College.

The pilot, Flight Lieutenant Mohammed Toukir Islam, also died while reportedly trying to steer the plane away from densely populated areas to minimize casualties. Approximately 171 people were injured, many seriously, as the community reels from this devastating accident.

In response, students took to the streets in the capital city, demanding accountability from officials and an investigation into the causes of the crash. Protesters called for better safety standards and the resignation of education authorities.

Security forces intervened in some demonstrations, using force to disperse crowds near government offices. Authorities have declared a national day of mourning while rescue and relief efforts continue.

The tragedy has sparked nationwide grief and urgent calls for systemic reforms to prevent such disasters in the future.
