Kaestyle, a label mate and collaborator of Nigerian singer Omah Lay, has publicly alleged that Muyiwa Awoniyi, Omah Lay’s former manager, was sacked and that their separation was not amicable as Awoniyi suggested on social media. Awoniyi had recently announced on his X (formerly Twitter) account that he is no longer managing Omah Lay after years of collaboration.
Kaestyle posted a cryptic message implying Awoniyi was fired rather than having left by choice: “Dem sack you, you say I’m no longer… lol always quick to go on social media.” Awoniyi responded by clarifying that he took on management duties to free Omah Lay from an unfavorable record deal with KeyQaad, the label to which Kaestyle is still signed. He indicated that after successfully helping Omah Lay exit that “slave deal,” he ended his management role, while Kaestyle remains bound to the label.
Omah Lay expressed gratitude to Awoniyi, calling him “the most intelligent person I’ve met so far in the game,” and promised enduring support. Awoniyi hinted that Omah Lay is planning to exit KeyQaad and start his own imprint called "Boy Alone," though Omah Lay has not officially confirmed this.
The exchange highlights tensions around the management and label dynamics within Omah Lay’s camp and raises questions about the nature of Awoniyi’s departure voluntary or forced amid evolving career plans for the singer.
