10-Year-Old Chess Prodigy Mohammed Mubarak to Represent Yobe State at 2025 National Youth Games in Asaba

Mohammed Mubarak, a 10-year-old chess prodigy from Yobe State, is set to become the youngest athlete participating in the 9th National Youth Games (NYG) scheduled for August 29 to September 6, 2025, in Asaba, Delta State. 

Mubarak started playing chess at age 7 and has actively competed in state and zonal elimination tournaments.

His coach, Chuxphoenix, expressed confidence in Mubarak's talent and determination, expecting him to make a significant impact at the event. 

This marks Mubarak’s first appearance at a national-level competition, where 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory will compete across 37 sports disciplines including athletics, football, basketball, and more, aiming to promote unity and discipline through sports
