Jude Ezenwafor, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Anambra State, has revealed that surviving a recent assassination attempt is a sign that he is destined to become governor. The candidate narrowly escaped death when gunmen attacked him in Abuja last month, an incident he described as a traumatic and life-changing experience.
Speaking on Arise News, Ezenwafor said bullets rained all over his body, but he is "bouncing back." He now moves with a walking stick and limps due to injuries sustained in the attack. Despite the trauma, Ezenwafor remained optimistic and confident about his political future.
He shared that the attempt on his life taught him a valuable lesson about mortality and strengthened his belief that he will succeed in the Anambra governorship race. Ezenwafor viewed the attack as a desperate move by opponents, but his resolve to contest the election remains firm.
The PDP has condemned the attack and called for heightened security measures to protect Ezenwafor ahead of the November 8, 2025, Anambra governorship election. The incident has drawn widespread attention to the security challenges faced by political candidates in the state.
