EFCC to Arraign 23 Suspects Arrested at Obasanjo’s Library for Internet Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced it will arraign 23 suspects arrested at a hotel within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) premises on Friday, August 15, 2025. The suspects are among 93 individuals apprehended during a sting operation at a pool party, which was allegedly organized to celebrate their illicit gains through internet fraud.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated that most suspects were charged with crimes related to impersonation, identity theft, and internet fraud. The party was initially planned for two venues but was shifted to the OOPL hotel to evade arrest by EFCC operatives who had intelligence on the event.

Oyewale clarified that the former president's library was not the target of the operation; the focus was on the suspects. Those arrested have confessed to involvement in internet fraud, and the arraignment will continue in batches, with more suspects expected to face court in the near future.

The arraignment will take place before Justice D. Dipeolu of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos. The EFCC reiterated its commitment to tackling cybercrime and bringing perpetrators to justice.
