Popular Nigerian musician Davido has unfollowed actress Iyabo Ojo on Instagram following a leaked WhatsApp conversation shared by social media critic VeryDarkMan. In the leak, Iyabo Ojo accused Davido of chasing clout with his involvement in the late singer Mohbad’s case.
According to the chat shared on Instagram, Iyabo criticized Davido for not unfollowing fellow musician Naira Marley on social media while claiming to fight for justice for Mohbad. She expressed disappointment, saying, “My problem is not even the black whatever, it is Davido who flew down like he claimed to fight for justice, but he still dey follow Naira Marley. That means he was chasing clout. I’m so disappointed with and to think he has been saying he is the only superstar artist who stood by Mohbad. Jess fake love 001.”
In reaction to these allegations, Davido unfollowed Iyabo Ojo, although a check by Daily Post revealed that Iyabo still follows Davido.
The controversy emerges from Mohbad’s death in 2023 under contentious circumstances, which sparked nationwide protests and calls for justice. Many celebrities, including Davido, Falz, and Zlatan, participated in candlelight processions to honor Mohbad. Iyabo Ojo has been a prominent campaigner in the ‘Justice for Mohbad’ movement and reportedly created a WhatsApp group dedicated to the cause.
Despite her activism, Iyabo recently expressed regret over advocating for Mohbad’s exhumation months ago.
