Former President Goodluck Jonathan Disowns Fraudulent Instagram Account, Warns Public Against Impersonation

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has issued a strong warning to the public about a fraudulent Instagram account impersonating him. In a statement released by his Media Aide, Ikechukwu Eze, Jonathan emphasized that he does not operate any Instagram handle.

The fraudulent account, operating under the handle "goodluck_ebelejonathan," has been deceitfully posting content, some of which was copied from Jonathan’s official Facebook page, while falsely representing the former president. The statement, titled "Beware of fake Instagram account impersonating H.E. Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan," urged the media and the public to disregard, avoid sharing, or promoting any material originating from this fake profile.

Jonathan’s team clarified that the former president has no presence on Instagram, and the impersonation is misleading the public. This announcement comes amid heightened social media activity surrounding Jonathan, including false claims and artificial intelligence-generated images circulating online.

Members of the public are encouraged to verify information from credible sources and remain cautious of deceptive online accounts claiming to speak on behalf of public figures.

This alert highlights the growing challenges posed by social media impersonation, particularly targeting prominent political personalities in Nigeria.
