Ibom Air Explains Why Fuji Musician Kwam1 Was Not Charged in Court Unlike Comfort Emmanson

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) clarified that Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate (Kwam1), was not charged to court following his misconduct incident at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, unlike Comfort Emmanson, who was charged and remanded for unruly behavior aboard an Ibom Air flight.

According to Michael Achimugu, NCAA's spokesperson, Kwam1 was not subjected to court proceedings because the airline involved, ValueJet, did not sue him or take him to court. Instead, the NCAA referred his case to the Attorney General and the Inspector General of Police for prosecution. In contrast, Ibom Air exercised its legal right by arresting and charging Comfort Emmanson directly for her violent conduct on the Uyo-Lagos flight, leading to her remand in Kirikiri Prison.

Emmanson's incident involved refusing to switch off her mobile phone before takeoff, physically assaulting a flight purser by slapping her multiple times, stepping on her, tearing off her wig, and attempting to use a fire extinguisher as a weapon. She also attacked other crew members and security personnel, resulting in Ibom Air banning her from future flights permanently.

The NCAA emphasized that it does not initiate lawsuits but supports enforcement by referring cases when airlines do not take direct legal action. The distinction in actions between ValueJet and Ibom Air explains why Kwam1 was not charged in court while Emmanson was.

This explanation underscores the NCAA’s role in aviation discipline and clarifies the differing legal follow-ups in two separate high-profile Nigerian domestic airline misconduct cases in 2025.
