The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has blacklisted Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, following an incident at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on August 5, 2025.
K1 De Ultimate attempted to board a ValueJet flight to Lagos with a flask containing an unidentified liquid, which airport security suspected was alcohol prohibited on Nigerian flights. The musician refused to surrender the flask, claiming it was medication prescribed by his doctor. This refusal escalated into a confrontation where he allegedly spilled the flask’s contents on aviation security personnel. He was eventually deboarded, and videos show him blocking the aircraft in an attempt to prevent takeoff.
Following the incident, the airline pilots disregarded safety protocols and took off despite the obstruction, leading to their suspension by NCAA.
The aviation authority condemned K1 De Ultimate's conduct as a serious breach of aviation safety and is considering further punitive measures such as placing him on a 'no-fly list,' which would restrict his ability to board commercial flights within Nigeria.
K1 De Ultimate has denied allegations that he endangers lives or breached safety regulations, stating the liquid was water given at the airport lounge. He also accused some parties of exaggerating the incident and defended his actions, emphasizing cooperation with authorities.
This incident has caused considerable disruption and highlights tensions between airport security regulations and celebrity behavior.
