Panic as Train Coach Detaches on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway

On the morning of August 7, 2025, panic erupted when a train coach detached from the rest of the compartments at the Ladipo section of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway. The incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. on a train traveling from Ogba Ayo in Ogun State to Apapa in Lagos. The rear compartment suddenly disconnected, causing confusion and temporarily halting movement along the busy corridor for over 30 minutes.

Eyewitnesses reported shock among commuters and bystanders, but fortunately, there were no casualties. Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene to manage the situation and ease traffic congestion caused by the disruption in the usually heavily trafficked area.

Officials have yet to disclose the exact cause of the mechanical failure, but transport analysts are calling for thorough investigations and improvements in maintenance standards to prevent future incidents in such critical urban transport routes.
