Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembélé has been crowned the winner of the 2025 Ballon d’Or, ending any debate over contenders like Rodri and Vinicius Jr. Dembélé’s remarkable performances throughout the 2024-2025 season, where he played a pivotal role in PSG’s domestic treble and Champions League triumph, secured him the prestigious award.
Dembélé received 32.5% of votes from 100 international journalists, narrowly defeating Barcelona’s rising star Lamine Yamal, who finished second. Vitinha of PSG took third place, while notable players like Mohamed Salah and Raphinha rounded out the top five.
Unlike previous years where discussions often centered on Real Madrid’s Rodri or Vinicius Jr, this year was decisively marked by Dembélé’s supremacy on the pitch, highlighting his contribution in crucial matches and steady consistency.
The ceremony, held in Paris, also saw Spain’s Aitana Bonmati win the women’s Ballon d’Or for the third consecutive year. Other awardees included Lamine Yamal winning the Kopa Trophy for the best young player for the second straight year and Gianluigi Donnarumma securing the Yashin Trophy for best goalkeeper.
PSG was named the men’s club of the year, while Arsenal took home the women’s club of the year honors, reflecting their dominance in their respective competitions.
