The chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area, Benue State, Maxwell Ogiri, has confirmed the assassination of Honorable Ejeh Udeh (also known as Ejeh Ijachi), a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area.
Ejeh Udeh was shot dead by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Monday, September 22, 2025, at his residence in Ugboju, Otukpo LGA. Eyewitnesses reported that the gunmen, riding motorcycles, lay in wait before surrounding and opening fire on him as he entered his compound.
The attack reportedly occurred in front of his wife and children, causing panic and grief within the family and community. His body has been deposited at the Otukpo General Hospital morgue.
Ogiri described the murder as a grievous blow to the community, highlighting Ejeh’s status as a well-known political figure and community leader. Security agencies have launched investigations to apprehend the perpetrators.
This killing adds to the increasing insecurity challenges in Benue State, which has seen a surge in violent attacks and assassinations in recent years.
