Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, the iconic founder of Mavin Records, has candidly shared why he remains single at 42. In a recent interview on the Echo Podcast, the veteran music producer revealed that his relentless dedication to building his career in the Nigerian music industry may have cost him marriage.
Don Jazzy expressed surprise at finding himself unmarried in his forties, saying, “I never thought I’d be 40-something and not be married. Maybe that’s the one I lost along the way. If it comes, it comes. If it doesn’t, I’m totally fine.” He explained that even if he were not managing Mavin Records, music would still be his life’s passion, and he finds great fulfillment in the impact he has made nurturing stars like Tiwa Savage, Rema, and Ayra Starr.
The music mogul also reflected on his early marriage in his twenties to Michelle Jackson, which ended after two years due to his all-consuming focus on music success. Despite this, he remains content and focused on personal growth, openly stating that he is working on himself to be a better partner when the right time comes.
