PDP Unbothered by Reports of Rivers Governor Fubara’s Possible Defection to APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has maintained a calm stance in response to swirling rumors suggesting that Governor Siminalayi Fubara might defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The state PDP leadership emphasized that any decision by Governor Fubara regarding his political future is personal and noted that they have not been officially informed of any intention to leave the party.

The rumors gained traction following the end of a six-month emergency rule in Rivers State, during which Fubara was suspended. Part of the controversial peace agreement reportedly involved a commitment by Fubara to defect to the APC, a move seen by analysts as a strategy to consolidate support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election.

PDP Rivers Chairman Dr. Robinson Ewor stated that the party remains focused on the interest of the people and called for transparency regarding any agreements related to the peace deal between Fubara and the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Despite recent sightings of Fubara with APC officials, the PDP insists on upholding party unity and continues to advocate for reconciliation and stability within Rivers State politics.

Prominent PDP figures like Bode George have publicly appealed to Fubara to remain loyal to the party, highlighting the strength and resilience of the PDP structure and leadership.
