Transfer Race Heats Up as Kelechi Iheanacho Becomes a Free Agent Following Sevilla Exit

Nigerian international striker Kelechi Iheanacho is at the center of a transfer battle involving at least three clubs after his contract with Sevilla was mutually terminated on transfer deadline day. The 28-year-old forward, who joined Sevilla last summer, is now a free agent and open to new opportunities.

Celtic are reportedly leading the chase, having engaged in talks with Iheanacho and offering him a two-year contract. The Scottish Premiership champions see the Super Eagles forward as a valuable addition, with Brendan Rodgers potentially reuniting with Iheanacho, under whom the Nigerian had his most prolific spell at Leicester City.

Two other unnamed Turkish clubs have also shown interest, but personal terms with these clubs have posed challenges, slowing negotiations. Iheanacho is not in a rush to decide and is evaluating his options carefully.

Iheanacho’s stint at Sevilla saw limited impact, with only 11 appearances and three goals in the Copa del Rey. Salary negotiations and adaptation issues contributed to an early termination of his contract, allowing him to seek a fresh start elsewhere.

This free agency status opens up new possibilities for Iheanacho to revive his club career and continue contributing at the international level for Nigeria as he approaches the prime years of his football journey.
