Tinubu Meets Governor Fubara at Aso Rock to Discuss Rivers State Stability

President Bola Tinubu held a closed-door meeting with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, on Monday evening, shortly after Fubara resumed office on September 19.

The meeting comes days after President Tinubu lifted the six-month state of emergency imposed on Rivers State in March 2025 to address a prolonged political crisis that threatened governance and security in the oil-rich state.

Discussions between Tinubu and Fubara are expected to focus on consolidating peace, restoring stability, and ensuring smooth governance as Rivers State returns to normal democratic operations.

The state of emergency saw the suspension of elected officials and the appointment of a sole administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas. It was lifted following significant progress towards peace and reconciliation.

The meeting also aligns with efforts to reconcile power struggles involving key political figures like former Governor and current FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
