Germany Arrests Three Suspected Hamas Operatives Preparing Attacks on Israeli and Jewish Institutions

German authorities have arrested three men suspected of being foreign operatives for Hamas, believed to be planning violent attacks against Israeli and Jewish establishments in Germany. The arrests took place in Berlin on October 1, 2025, just a day before Yom Kippur, a significant Jewish holy day.

The suspects, identified by their first names and initials only due to German privacy laws, are Abed Al G. and Ahmad I., both German nationals, and Wael F. M., who is Lebanese-born. Prosecutors allege they have been involved in procuring firearms and ammunition since the summer of 2025 to carry out assassination attempts targeting Israeli or Jewish targets.

During the arrests, police seized a variety of weapons, including an AK-47 assault rifle, multiple pistols, and a large quantity of ammunition. Searches were also conducted in Leipzig and Oberhausen, uncovering further evidence connected to the suspects.

These arrests mark a significant counterterrorism effort by German authorities to thwart potential attacks. Hamas, which governs Gaza and is designated a terrorist organization by Germany, the European Union, and several other countries, has denied involvement with the suspects.

This incident follows a related trial earlier in 2025, when four Hamas members were prosecuted in Berlin for plotting attacks on Jewish institutions across Europe. The ongoing vigilance underscores Germany’s commitment to preventing terrorism and protecting its Jewish and Israeli communities.
