Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, leader of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), has issued a stern warning to political defectors ahead of the 2027 general elections. He emphasized that those who abandon the NNPP or betray the Kwankwasiyya movement will face severe consequences, asserting that "defectors will face their end in 2027."
In recent statements, Kwankwaso reiterated his loyalty to the NNPP, warning that politicians who leave the party in pursuit of personal gains or due to internal disagreements would regret their actions come election time. He expressed confidence in his movement's resilience and readiness to face the upcoming electoral challenges, asserting that betrayal will not go unpunished.
Kwankwaso's comments come amidst a wave of defections from his supporters, particularly within Kano State, where several prominent figures, including lawmakers and party loyalists, have defected to the ruling APC or other parties. Despite these setbacks, he remains committed to rebuilding and strengthening his political base, insisting that the party’s principles and people-centered approach will secure victory in 2027.
He also dismissed recent rumors of secret negotiations with the APC, reaffirming his focus on leading the NNPP to victory and warning that politicians trying to undermine his movement will ultimately face the political consequences of their actions.
Kwankwaso’s warning highlights the high-stakes nature of Nigeria’s 2027 elections, with the NNPP determined to consolidate its influence, especially in Kano, as part of its strategy to shape Nigeria’s political future.
