Lagos Baale Sues IGP and CP Over Alleged Unlawful Arrest, Seeks ₦50 Million Damages

Chief Busari Adeleye, a Lagos Baale, has dragged the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Akanniye Ezima, to court over what he alleges was an unlawful arrest. The Baale, along with his family, is seeking ₦50 million in damages for the alleged violation of their rights.

According to court records, Chief Adeleye claims that the police acted without due process, infringing on his fundamental rights. The suit challenges the legality of the arrest and the circumstances surrounding it, asserting that the police violated established legal norms.

This legal action highlights ongoing tensions between traditional titleholders and law enforcement authorities in Lagos, raising broader questions about police conduct and respect for legal procedures.

The case is currently before a Lagos court, where Chief Adeleye and his family seek redress and justice for the alleged wrongful actions committed against them by the police leadership.
