Lagos NURTW Chairman Threatens to Punish Anyone Refusing to Vote APC in 2027, Faces DSS Grilling

The Lagos State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as Sego, has come under investigation by the Department of State Services (DSS) following his threat to punish anyone who refuses to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

In a viral video, Sego warned that those planning to vote against the APC in Lagos would “learn a lesson” and face consequences. The video stirred public backlash and concerns about voter intimidation and the use of union influence to sway electoral outcomes.

Sego later denied threatening anyone and claimed that his comments were misrepresented. He said his threats were directed only at union members and accused his political rivals of instigating the investigations to undermine him.

The DSS has since summoned Sego for questioning as authorities monitor potential threats to peaceful elections in Lagos State. The incident underscores tensions ahead of the 2027 polls around political coercion and security.
