Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has pledged his full support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Dr. Moses Paul, promising to join him on the campaign trail across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Obi made the declaration during a special Independence Day event held at Merit House, Abuja, organised by Dr. Paul to sensitize AMAC residents ahead of the February 2026 council polls.
Obi expressed confidence in Dr. Paul’s integrity and character, stating, “Dr. MO will not change, but because human beings can change, I would be shocked if he does.” He emphasized the commitment to restore good governance in AMAC, which Dr. Paul described as failed by highlighting issues such as collapsed waste management, abandoned schools, non-functional health centers, widespread insecurity, and multiple taxation burdens on businesses.
Dr. Paul outlined his vision to modernize AMAC markets, improve security through community partnerships, revive education and healthcare services, and enhance infrastructure development across all 12 wards. He declared, “If AMAC works, Abuja works. If Abuja works, Nigeria works.”
The event also saw the endorsement of Dr. Paul by the Obidient Movement, with its National Coordinator, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, voicing strong support for the campaign. The rally attracted several ADC members and civil society groups, signaling a growing momentum for change in AMAC governance.
