Former President Olusegun Obasanjo declared that Nigerians have the right to call on the international community for help if the Federal Government cannot fulfill its primary duty to protect citizens amid worsening insecurity.
Speaking at the 2025 Plateau Unity Christmas Carol in Jos, he decried relentless killings regardless of religion, ethnicity, or origin, stating the situation has deteriorated since the Chibok girls' abduction and demands no apologies for seeking external intervention.
Obasanjo urged deploying modern technology like satellites and drones to track criminals, rejecting negotiations or excuses while criticizing government incapacity. He emphasized that no criminal should evade justice in the technology era, calling for an end to the national bloodshed that has left citizens exhausted. Plateau Governor Caleb Mutfwang hosted the event to foster unity through worship amid the crisis.
