The Governing Council of Umaru Musa Yar'adua University (UMYU) in Katsina has approved the promotion of 19 academic staff to the rank of Professor, alongside 113 others across various cadres, effective October 1, 2025.
This decision emerged from the council's 56th meeting on November 27, which also elevated 20 to Reader, 31 to Senior Lecturer, 17 to Lecturer I, 26 to Lecturer II, and converted 36 staff to higher professional ranks, while doubling cleaners' wages by 100%.
The council welcomed new Pro-Chancellor Senator Hadi Abubakar Sirika, who pledged collaboration with unions and management under Vice-Chancellor Professor Shehu Salihu Muhammad to drive institutional growth.
