Peter Obi Brands Nigeria 'Nation of Unending Tragedy' Over Killings

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has decried Nigeria as "a nation of unending tragedy" following a spate of violence in Adamawa, Anambra, and Sokoto states, as stated in his December 9, 2025, X post. Obi mourned the killing of worshippers in Anambra, seven peaceful women protesters in Adamawa, and seven more victims of banditry in Sokoto, warning that normalizing such insecurity cripples schools, farms, businesses, and dignity.

He slammed failures to protect religious sites, eroding trust in security forces, and unfulfilled anti-banditry pledges, insisting no aspiring nation tolerates daily bloodshed. Obi linked unrest to poverty, unemployment, and weak institutions, urging investments in education, healthcare, and empowerment for a secure society where justice prevails regardless of region or status.

Obi called for leadership prioritizing every life, renewed national resolve, and accountability to end the cycle, extending condolences while vowing a united push for safer Nigeria.
