Edo Bishop Arrested Over Alleged Sexual Abuse of Two Minor Sisters

Authorities in Edo State have apprehended Bishop Gideon Osazee, the founder and leader of Rollo Life of Christ Brethren Ministry, on serious charges of sexually abusing two biological sisters who were minors at the time of the alleged incidents.

The arrest came after several days of targeted surveillance by state officials, following reports that surfaced about the cleric's alleged misconduct. The victims, now identified as biological siblings, were reportedly 13 and 17 years old during the period of the abuse. Officials revealed that four additional young females have since stepped forward with comparable claims of sexual harassment linked to the same suspect.

Eugene Abdullah, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in Edo State, confirmed the development and noted that more children connected to the church had reported similar experiences of harassment. Preliminary investigations, including statements gathered at the Vivian Sexual Assault Referral Centre, have reportedly supported core elements of the victims' accounts, as shared by Faith Edebor from the centre.

In his defense, Bishop Osazee has strongly denied any involvement with minors. He admitted to having what he described as a consensual relationship with the older sister but rejected the accusations concerning underage individuals.

The case has sparked renewed concerns about the vulnerability of young people in religious settings and the need for stricter oversight and protection mechanisms. Investigations remain active, with authorities continuing to collect evidence and additional testimonies to build a comprehensive case.

This incident adds to a growing list of high-profile allegations against religious figures in Nigeria, prompting calls for accountability and swift justice to safeguard victims and restore public trust in community leaders.
