Nigerian rapper Okafor Victor, popularly known as Mr Real, has publicly reversed his earlier criticisms of music icon D'banj and tendered a heartfelt apology over remarks he made regarding the Creative Reality Entertainment Art & Music (CREAM) platform.
The controversy originated in late 2025 when D'banj appeared on The Micon Podcast and boldly stated that his CREAM platform was valued at $3 billion. This claim drew a strong reaction from Mr Real, who posted a video on social media accusing the veteran artist of merely attempting to hype or "package" the initiative. He further alleged that D'banj had failed to honor an agreed-upon N20 million ambassadorial deal with CREAM, sparking widespread online discussions and debates within the Nigerian music community.
The situation escalated, reportedly prompting D'banj's legal team to petition against Mr Real. In response, the rapper shared an apology video on his Instagram page on Monday, January 20, 2026, marking a complete turnaround from his previous stance.
In the emotional clip, Mr Real addressed his followers directly, saying: “Hello everyone, this video is an apology video to my boss D’banj. I know most of you must have seen what is happening between me, D’banj, and the CREAM platform. I misunderstood and misinterpreted some things concerning CREAM, and I want to use this opportunity to say I’m very very sorry.”
He continued by expressing deep regret over the tone and public nature of his comments, acknowledging D'banj's significant influence on his career: “To D’banj, you play a very big role in my career. I regret the tone and public manner of my recent comments. I hold Dbanj in the highest regard, and I apologise for how the situation was handled. I have withdrawn my comments, and I will not make further public statements on this matter while cooperating to resolve this matter amicably.”
Mr Real described D'banj as a mentor and father figure, emphasizing his respect for the "Koko Master" and committing to handling any remaining issues privately. The move appears aimed at de-escalating the feud and preserving professional relationships in the industry.
This development has drawn mixed reactions online, with some fans praising Mr Real for taking responsibility and showing maturity, while others noted the swift shift following legal pressure. D'banj has not yet made a public comment on the apology, but the incident highlights the sensitivities around business claims, endorsements, and public disputes in Nigeria's entertainment space.
As both artists move forward, the episode serves as a reminder of the power of dialogue and accountability in resolving celebrity conflicts.
